Who can qualify?
SEAI says applicants must meet all four criteria: own and live in the home, have a home built and occupied before 2006, receive an eligible welfare payment, and have a home suitable for improvements after survey.
Listed payments include Fuel Allowance, Working Family Payment, One-Parent Family Payment, Domiciliary Care Allowance, certain Jobseeker's Allowance and Disability Allowance cases with a child under seven, and Carer's Allowance where the applicant lives with the person they care for.
What can be included?
SEAI says common upgrades include attic and wall insulation. A surveyor recommends measures based on the age, size, existing heating system and condition of the home.
How to apply
- Read the SEAI Warmer Homes criteria.
- Apply online or by post with your MPRN and proof of ownership.
- SEAI checks your payment eligibility with the Department of Social Protection.
- A BER and home survey are arranged where relevant.
- SEAI recommends suitable measures and arranges registered contractors.
When you may not qualify
- You live in the home but do not own it.
- The home was built or occupied in 2006 or later.
- You receive a payment that is not on SEAI's qualifying list.
- The survey finds the home is not suitable for measures under the scheme.
- You had Warmer Homes works completed on or after 1 July 2018, unless SEAI says your case can proceed.
