Solar panel grant
The standard SEAI solar PV grant is capped at EUR1,800, with a separate EUR600 battery grant and enhanced solar support for eligible applicants.

Key facts
- The home needs an MPRN.
- The home must have been built and occupied before 2025.
- The grant is not open to homes with previous solar PV funding at the same MPRN.
- Use a registered installer and receive approval before starting grant-funded works.
Battery support
An eligible battery of at least 5kWh attracts a flat EUR600 grant. Apply alongside solar PV or separately under the current conditions. Standard solar PV plus battery support can total EUR2,400.
The home must have an MPRN, have been built and occupied before 2025, and have no previous battery grant at that MPRN. Get SEAI approval before installation starts, use an SEAI-registered solar PV contractor and meet current technical requirements. A post-works BER is required where solar PV is present. Check the battery grant conditions.
Enhanced solar PV support
Eligible homeowners receiving specified DSP payments may qualify for up to EUR8,400 for 4kWp of solar PV, or EUR9,000 including an eligible battery. Receipt of any welfare payment is not enough.
- Fuel Allowance under the National Fuel Scheme.
- Jobseeker’s Allowance for over six months, with a child under seven.
- Working Family Payment.
- One-Parent Family Payment.
- Domiciliary Care Allowance.
- Carer’s Allowance while living with the person cared for.
- Disability Allowance for over six months, with a child under seven.
Normally the qualifying recipient must be the homeowner. For Carer’s Allowance, the carer may be another full-time resident; the homeowner must live there and apply, with SEAI’s confirmation form. SEAI verifies eligibility and may require supporting documents. The official solar page also describes a separate Dublin RASP route requiring council confirmation; it is not a general enhanced-solar entitlement for every HAP or RAS property.
